Wendy J. Alfaro, PsyD is a licensed clinical psychologist that received her PsyD in combined school and clinical psychology from Kean University in 2018, completing internship at Rutgers University Behavioral Healthcare and postdoctoral training at Montefiore Medical Center, Department of Family and Social Medicine. She is a mental health provider for unaccompanied immigrant children and asylum seeking families within Terra Firma, in addition to Spanish speaking adults at Bronx Health Collective.
Wendy's main clinical and research interests are in the cultural modifications of evidence based treatment, specifically mindfulness and acceptance-based approaches for Spanish speaking individuals. Wendy is especially interested in the application of mindfulness for smoking cessation within the primary care setting and addressing social justice in her research and clinical practice. Lastly, Wendy is a proud advocate of Peruvian and Salvadoran culture- where her family is originally from.
