Karen Kaminsky

Karen Kaminsky comes to the Terra Firma board with three decades of non- profit, philanthropic, and government experience. She has served as deputy executive director for the New York Immigration Coalition and director of development for Chhaya CDC; ran a collaborative grantmaking fund, the Fund for New Citizens, at the New York Community Trust; and served as speechwriter to the New York State Attorney General and as deputy director of the New York City Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs.  She has held numerous consulting roles within both the immigrant rights movement and the foundation world, on matters ranging from fundraising and communications to organizational structure, financial management, grantmaking, and evaluation. In a previous life, she spent five years in the fiction department at The New Yorker. She holds a BA from Middlebury College and lives in New York City, only blocks from where she was raised.
