Mariana Alvarez

Program Associate

Mariana is the Program Associate at Terra Firma National, where she supports internal operations, communications, fundraising efforts, and coordination across the organization’s national network. Her work ensures the smooth day-to-day functioning of the organization and advances its mission to support immigrant youth through medical, legal, and mental health partnerships. Previously, Mariana served as a VISTA with the New York Immigration Coalition, focusing on program implementation and communications strategy. She graduated from CUNY Queens College with a major in Media Studies and a minor in Business and Liberal Arts, and is currently pursuing her Master of Social Work at Syracuse University. As a first-generation Colombian-American immigrant, her lived experience fuels her passion for mental health advocacy and social justice.

Terra Firma National is a separate nonprofit organization dedicated to replicating and advancing the Terra Firma Model across the country.
