Network Advisor
Minal Giri, MD, FAAP, is a pediatrician, asylum medicine expert, and national leader in immigrant child health. She serves as Network Advisor for Terra Firma National, leveraging her expertise in partnership development and coalition-building to advance strategic collaborations in the care of unaccompanied and immigrant children.
Dr. Giri is founder and Executive Director of the Midwest Human Rights Consortium (MHRC) and has played a central role in building multidisciplinary medical-legal networks to support forensic evaluations for children and families seeking humanitarian immigration relief. Through MHRC, she has developed regional referral infrastructure, training initiatives, and cross-sector partnerships that expand access to high-quality medical and psychological evaluations in the Midwest and beyond. Dr. Giri is the author and co-author of peer-reviewed articles, policy analyses, and commentaries addressing asylum medicine, the ethics of pediatric forensic evaluations, and the health impacts of immigration detention on children. She has conducted and contributed to investigations of medical neglect and rights violations including work documenting systemic harms to detained children.
Dr. Giri is a practicing pediatrician with over two decades of experience. She is a graduate of the University of Chicago. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and remains deeply committed to mentoring clinicians engaged in immigrant health and asylum medicine.
