Nilda

Image-empty-state.png

Nilda fled Honduras with her 2-year old son, Keydon, to escape violence. Upon arriving in the United States, she was separated from her son at the border and detained. In 2018, the Brooklyn Defender Services advocated for the reunion of Nilda and her son, and they were eventually able to do so 2 months after their separation in New York City. However, she is still struggling to make ends meet while she waits to find out if she can stay, and the "While They Wait" Fund is gathering funds to pay for necessities, legal services, and immigration fees to help her.

Terra Firma is the original direct service program, providing integrated medical, mental health, and legal services to immigrant children and families through the Terra Firma Model in Bronx, New York.

Terra Firma National is a separate nonprofit organization dedicated to replicating and advancing the Terra Firma Model across the country.
